

Celebrating a birthday today (January 25th) is nine-time Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Alicia Keys, who is 29. Her new CD, The Element of Freedom, features the Smooth Jazz Top 20 single “Doesn’t Mean Anything.”
Born Alicia Augello Cook and raised in Manhattan, Keys has also released the CDs Songs In A Minor (which included the hit “Fallin’ ”), Diary of Alicia Keys, Unplugged, and As I Am, which included the smooth jazz single “No One.”
Alicia is an accomplished actress as well, as she starred in the motion picturesThe Nanny Diaries, Smokin’ Aces and, most recently, The Secret Life of Bees in 2009. She is also a philanthropist; she is the co-founder and global ambassador of Keep A Child Alive, a nonprofit organization that provides medicine to families with HIV and AIDS in Africa.
Keys begins a North American tour to support her latest CD on February 28 in Montreal, concluding April 6 appearance in Los Angeles at the Staples Center. She then begins a tour of Europe.
